Tom’s experience encompasses award winning documentaries, commercial production, national network news, reality TV, corporate productions and live national broadcasts.

He regularly lenses shows such as ABC’s 20/20, Primetime, Nightline, World News and “This Week” with George Stephanopolous. Other regular clients include ESPN, America’s Most Wanted, Actuality Productions, HD Net, ‘War Stories’ with Oliver North, Good Morning America and many more.

Along with a wide array of indoor and outdoor lighting techniques, a comprehensive understanding of production and a rock-steady shoulder, Tom also comes with extensive jib experience – from 8 foot Microjibs to 30+ foot Jimmy Jib rigs. Multiple aerial shooting assignments has led him to travel with his own helicopter safety harness system.

On top of it all he is skilled with steady-cam rigs and Tyler mounts. Simply put, if you’ve got Tom on your team, you’ve got the total package.

Biography:

Tom Wells, Director of Photography, based in Charleston, South Carolina is known for terrific lighting and jib work. He recently wrote the Producer's Guide to Charleston, South Carolina in an effort to help producers coming to South Carolina and Charleston to shoot for the first time. It details a lot of the places and events to shoot in Charleston.

Tom travels with an extensive equipment list including full lighting and sound to include a full Arri lighting kit with chimeras, up to four wireless microphones, and tons of extras. He often uses the Micro Dolly Jib for quick amazing video shots. The quick set-up and ability for high shots really add to any video production. Our Charleston office has both the Panasonic Varicam for High Definition video shoots and Beta SP Sony D600 for high end standard shoots. Additionally Tom travels with a several HMI lights, and a light grip package.
